The value of fixing things

My amp was in need of some love, so I had a crack at fixing it.

I used to spend so much time in a various sheds tinkering on boards, mucking around with furniture, and even turning a broken surfboard into a letterbox.

I live in an apartment these days.

It’s a little trickier to get dusty and make things. However, when I got sick of picking up amp fibres from the ground after playing my bass guitar, I finally got to the task of fixing the front grill cover on my Fender Bass amp.

As I worked my way through the process, I was reminded of firstly how much I enjoyed fixing things, but also how much challenge, learning and growth comes from figuring something like this out.

It also helped me to realise I can try to pass this experience onto my students.

I’m not exactly sure how, or when, but I know that it will be a good way to teach.
